A DO is the word in a sentence that recieve the action of the verb. It answers the questions 'Whom' or 'What'. For example, in the sentence 'The boy stomped the puddle' the subject is 'boy' the predicate is 'stomped' and what did the boy stomp? The puddle.

Indirect Objects: Any indirect object (IO) will fit these following criteria. IO's ...

-are either a noun or pronoun
-occur in sentences with
action verbs
-occur in sentences with Direct Objects only
-never occur in a
prepositional phrase
-Answers the questions To Whom or For Whom

An IO is the word in a sentence that that verb is done for. It answers the questions 'To Whom' or 'For Whom'. For example, in the sentence 'My aunt always bakes me cakes.' the subject is 'aunt' the predicate is 'bakes' and for whom did she bake the cakes? Me.
